San Marcos Industry’s counter service restaurant is heading to East Austin this fall. Industry East will open at 1211 East Fifth Street, Suite 150 beginning Saturday, October 22.

The industry menu includes all-day fare like brisket tacos, Reubens smoked beets, chile relleno, burgers, queso, and Sunday brunch. Meats and vegetables are house-smoked. The restaurant has a full bar with whiskeys, frozen cocktails, draft cocktails, beer, and wine. Browse the full menu below.

The industry is owned by Cody Taylor, the former owner of Cafe Josie, which closed in 2020; and Harlan Scott, restoration consultant, former director of operations at Parkside Projects. The couple opened the first industry in San Marcos in 2018. They also recently reopened longtime San Marcos pizzeria Valentino’s in August.

One of the main principles of the restaurant is the fair treatment of staff, including mental health care, fair wages, sharing tips for cooking, and 40-hour work weeks. The industry also offers a 15% discount to workers in the industry. Restaurant currently recruiting.

The new industry opens in the same building as the Austin location of Japanese barbecue chain Gyu-Kaku.

Update, Wednesday, October 12, 11:29 a.m.: This article, originally published September 28, has been updated to include Industry’s East Austin opening date.
