The Orioles selected reliever Rico Garcia on the contract this morning and moved to left-hander Bruce Zimmermann at Triple-A Norfolk.

Zimmermann pitched a scoreless relief inning yesterday.

Reliever Travis Lakins Sr. was moved to the 60-day injured list to make room for Garcia on the 40-man roster.

Additionally, reliever Marcos Diplán cleared outright waivers and was assigned to Norfolk.

Garcia, who wears number 63, made two appearances for the Orioles as a backup player in Toronto and allowed one run in three innings.

Can the Orioles claim eight straight wins for the first time since April 22-May 1, 2005? And drop a game below .500 for the first time since their Opening Day loss?

They’ll be looking to make back-to-back sweeps today while closing out their streak against the Angels. They are 12-11-4 in series this year.

A win today would give the Orioles their first four-game sweep since July 17-20, 2017 against the Rangers.

They went 8-4-2 in the home series after going 5-15-6 in 2021.

The Orioles posted their eighth shutout yesterday, and their third when they were held to a single point. They had five shutouts last season.

The seven-game winning streak is by a combined 10 points, the smallest point differential by team since 2008 and by the Orioles since 1958, according to ESPN Stats and Info.

Anthony Santander has four multi-hit games in his last six games, going 8-for-24 with a .385 on-base percentage and .417 hitting percentage.

Trey Mancini is 10 for 33 during an eight-game hitting streak.

Austin Voth remains in the rotation to make his fifth start and eighth appearance. It was extended to 4 1/3 innings and 65 pitches.

The Angels start left-hander José Suarez, who has made seven starts in nine appearances and recorded a 4.30 ERA and 1.540 WHIP with 38 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings.

Suarez started against the Orioles on April 24 and allowed three runs and four hits with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Mancini hit his first homer, a three-run shot.

It was Chris Ellis’ game, when he failed to retire a batter and was charged with five runs.

Today’s game streams exclusively on Peacock.

Kyle Bradish made his first start in rehab last night with Double-A Bowie and struck out all nine Somerset batters with five strikeouts.
