The best South African hotels crowned at the Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence • Glam Adelaide

The best of South Australia’s hospitality industry revealed at the AHA Hospitality Industry Achievement Awards | SA 2022 held at the Adelaide Entertainment Center last night.

Considered one of the most anticipated awards on the hospitality industry calendar, 900 people gathered at this premier event to find out who had won the hospitality industry’s ultimate accolades.

The Stirling Hotel triumphed, winning the coveted title of best hotel overall – Metropolitan. The Adelaide Hills Hotel impressed the judges with its constant innovation and consistently high standard of dining, service and retail.

The Stirling Hotel also won Best Casual Bistro for the Outer Metro Area and Best Outlet (co-winner with the Marion Hotel).

The Loxton Hotel has won the titles of Best Hotel Overall – Country, as well as Best Presentation and Bar Experience – Country, and Best Revamped Hotel – Country, in recognition of its superb recent refurbishments and extremely high standards in all facets of the hotel.

Eos by SkyCity was awarded Best Hotel Overall – Lodging Division, providing guests with a true luxury experience and exceptional customer service. Eos by SkyCity also received awards for Best Luxury Hotel Accommodation, Best Unenclosed Outdoor Facility – Metropolitan (joint winner with 2KW), and Best Practice for Environmental and Energy Efficiency.

One of tonight’s very special awards was the WT Spurr AO Award for Tourism and Regional Promotion, in honor of industry icon Bill Spurr AO who sadly passed away this year. The recipient of this prestigious award is the Watervale Hotel, which has become a leader in tourism in the Clare Valley, attracting the epicurean tourist as well as the eco-tourist.

The Watervale Hotel also won Best Restaurant – General Division Country honors for an impressive third consecutive year, while in the Metropolitan area it was 2KW which cemented its position as Adelaide’s Best Restaurant – General Division Metropolitan, also winning this award for the third consecutive year.

A new category for this year was Best Family Restaurant, and it was Hotel Belair that won over the judges with its modern dining space, extensive children’s menu and large play area for all family members.

“This year, the focus was expanded for the first time to honor the best hotel in 3 categories – metropolitan, regional and accommodation.

“Congratulations to Stirling Hotel, Loxton Hotel and Eos by SkyCity for achieving best in class in their respective categories, and to all winners of the 2022 Hotel Awards for Excellence.

“South Australia can rightly lay claim to having some of the finest establishments in the country, from city to country, from local pub to 5 star luxury hotel, and despite a few difficult years, hotels in South Australia continue to raise the bar in terms of innovation, presentation and service.We are extremely proud to represent this incredible industry.

“All SA winners will now be entered into the AHA National Hotel Awards, to be held in Sydney on November 28.”

The 2022 AHA|SA Hospitality Industry Excellence Awards took place on Tuesday, October 18 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. 900 people attended this premier event featuring the South Australian Entertainment Hindley Street Country Club and The Cast, and hosted by Mark Soderstrom.
