PLACES TO STAY COOL: Mentioning this again today – the city is putting out this list of places you can cool off if you need to. For West Seattle, the Center for the elderly (California/Oregon) is air-conditioned and open until 4:30 p.m. today; the Delridge and high point branches of the Seattle Public Library both are fully air-conditioned – both are open from 1-8 p.m. today. (UPDATE: Local branches without and partially air-conditioned shorten their hours of operation – southwest and west Seattle [Admiral] will both be open from noon to 3 p.m. only, according to this SPL page)
AIR-CONDITIONED RESTAURANTS AND BARS: We heard about at Arthur’s and Admiral pub. Someone else?
PAINTING IN THE PARK: Free watercolor workshop, outdoors at Roxhill Park (29/Barton), suitable for 50 and over, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
FOOD POP-UP: Chief Gino of TheHomeSkillit.com is set up today in the Delridge DSHS building (4045 Delridge Way SW) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “doing a day-long special of our house Creole fried rice…with the choice of shrimp or salmon.” He’s trying to raise $10,000 for inventory so he can sell food at Seahawks games.
NEW SDOT DIRECTOR: As expected on Tuesday, the mayor Bruce Harrel plans to make that announcement at 11:45 a.m. You can watch live via Seattle Canal.
PADDING POOLS OPEN: In West Seattle today, the pools that need to be open are Delridge (12 p.m.-5.30 p.m.) and Lincoln Park (12 p.m.-7 p.m.). (Also, Highland Park Water Park at 1100 SW Cloverdale is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
COLMAN POOL: The outdoor swimming pool Lincoln Park will be open today as its 7-day-a-week schedule continues, from noon to 7 p.m.
